This colorful advent calendar is made of 24 little drawer boxes. Material used is 1 mm matboard covered with colored paper and white die-cut numbers, also from matboard. I used the Sizzix ScoreBoards Candy Drawer die (designer Eileen Hull) and Word Play die (designer Tim Holtz). I like the ScoreBoards dies a lot because they are so versatile, it is absolutely inspiring. And you get fast and accurate results, since you don’t need to bother about measuring, scoring, hand-cutting…

Halloween…

The Halloween candy jars are finished and filled. I used Eileen Hull’s Sizzix ScoreBoards candy jar die – I like those very much because they are so versatile. I just embellished them with a black rosette, a fun Halloween sticker and some rubbed-on chalks.

When I started this necklace, it was supposed to become the “Arcs of the Alster Arcades” as in Elke Leonhardt-Raths marvelous book “Die Architektur der Perle“. Choice of beads rather resulted in an organic-looking Iguana claw design. I love it!

Doing some beading lately. My latest addition is this necklace with pendant after a tutorial to be found here:

I just made two changes – I used tubular RAW instead of the crocheting (couldn’t figure out the crocheting part with 15/o rocailles) and I did without the tube around the pendant – I actually created it, but it looked to massive for me once I had attached it, so I removed it again.

Blossfeldt – Eight Framed Acrylics on Canvas

I made these little 15 x 15 cm (approx. 6 x 6 inches) Blossfeldt “vignettes” and had them framed. They came out so beautifully … They are acrylic medium transfers. I finally found an even easier method involving inkjet transparency print: you just inkjet print your image on transparency foil and adhere to the surface you want it transferred to using an acrylic gel medium. Clean the edges and turn around; burnish with a bone folder or brayer. After a while (this part takes a bit of experimenting) remove the transparency.

Hello there !!

I am back – I can’t believe I left this blog orphaned for such a long time now. This last year was marked by the construction and move-in into our new home, so there were lots of tasks not involving any crafting;

But now I am enjoying the advent season all the more, doing lots of crafts for decorating new spaces.

The canvas wreath was inspired by Alisa Burke. I left out the sewing though and since I didn’t have such colorful buttons on hand, I used waxed beads instead. This also saved the hot glueing step – I just pinned the beads down to the underlying styrofoam ring.

And major bling is caused by the sequined styrofoam ring. This one was a lot of work, but done while sitting in front of the TV it passed in no time. The wreath is covered with literally thousands of pink and red seqins and 4 mm orange, red and pink beads.

The stamped scaloped square was colored in with pencils and the color areas blended using an alcohol ink colorless blender marker. First time I tried this technique and I liked how the colors turned out nice and vibrant.
